Museums that are Free on Specific Days
Museums are listed in alphabetical order under city. The name is linked to the most appropriate page we could find in regards to the free day. Please note that free admission does not usually include any special exhibits or programs. Please check with the museum before heading out to confirm admission and hours of operation. Buffalo Soldiers National Museum ~ Thursdays from 1-5pm
Children’s Museum of Houston ~ Thursdays from 5-8pm.
Czech Center Museum Houston ~ According to the Museum District website, this museum is free on the last Monday of the month from 10am-4pm. We could not confirm this with any information on the Czech Center website.
Health Museum ~ Thursdays 2-7pm
Holocaust Museum Houston ~ Thursdays from 2-5pm as well as Memorial Day, D-Day (June 6), Kristallnacht (Nov. 9) and International Holocaust Remembrance Day (Jan 27)
Houston Museum of African American Culture ~ According to the Museum District website, this museum if free on Thursdays from 6-9pm. We could not confirm this with any information on the HMAAC website.
Houston Museum of Natural Science ~ Every Thursday from 2-5pm for the Permanent Exhibits.
Houston Zoo ~ First Tuesdays, September through May, from Noon until closing.
- Thursdays, general admission to the MFAH is completely FREE, to everyone, courtesy of Shell.
- Kids visiting on a Saturday or Sunday. Ages 6 to 18 simply show their library card from any public library in Texas.
